After more than a decade without a local grocery store, Aurora will welcome the new Goodwill Community Cupboard on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. at 150 South 5th Street.
Operated by Goodwill Industries of Eastern North Carolina, the Community Cupboard is designed as a pay-what-you-can food market offering affordable fresh food and healthy choices close to home. Goodwill developed the project after identifying Aurora and Richland Township as communities where residents often must travel more than 10 miles to reach a full grocery store.
The Community Cupboard represents an important new resource for Aurora residents and another positive investment in the community. Everyone is invited to attend the grand opening, welcome the Goodwill team and celebrate this much-anticipated addition to the Town of Aurora.
